Soil science and its application, even at a basic level, is an important topic or interest and skills that is rarely taught and learned outside of agriculture and land resource management. Many practicing catchment and land managers and planners, as well as consultants have stated that they lack the knowledge and understanding of basic soil science, which they find to be an essential component of their professional requirements.
This course will provide participants with an understanding of the basic science underpinning soil processes, function, and use, and the application of this knowledge to catchment and landscape management and planning.

This course is relevant for consultants (ecologists, geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists / managers, hydrologists, geomorphologists), land planners, catchment management, environmental management, early career professionals looking for professional development; job seekers/career changers both graduate and early to mid-career stages.
